Journaling Through The Bible – Week 51 {Link Up}

I am reading and journaling chronologically through the Bible in 2017. Each Sunday I will post one of my journaling pages and thoughts from that week’s reading. I will also have a linky for anyone who would like to participate to share how their Bible reading and journaling is going!

I am reading and journaling through the entire Bible in Chronological order in 2017, join me on my linkup!

The Reading:

I’ve moved into the letters written by some of the other disciples now. Still full of wisdom and advice for living within the will of God. I love seeing how these letters overlap. All of this really makes me want to study these deeper, some day I will.

Merry Christmas! From my family to yours!

With Christmas preparations and activities this week I did not have a chance to do any journaling but I wanted to post this link up and wish you a Merry Christmas. If you did not get a chance to do any journaling this weekend feel free to link any post about Christmas, the Bible, or faith.

Merry Christmas!

Update:

This Christmas has been a bit off for us. I didn’t do many of the things I normally do during this season. But even with those things being left out we have had a pretty good Advent! I may re-think a few of my traditions next year in order to have a relaxed and stress free season. I am looking forward to the new year, I am taking a new direction in my personal life and hope it will bring some balance and peace to my family. Next week I will have the Facebook groups for Bible Journaling and The Life Giving Home discussion ready so be watching for those announcements. After New Year I will get back to posting 2-3 times a week. I hope you have a wonderful Christmas!

Journaling Through The Bible – Week 50 {Link Up}

The Reading:

Spent some time in Timothy this week. I always find those letters particularly encouraging. As I read through Paul’s letters it is so hard to imagine the dramatic change from Saul to Paul and how completely and suddenly he quite literally shed his old self and put on the new. This is such a great reminder of what all Christians have experienced in salvation even if it is not always as obvious to our human understanding.

The Journaling:

I liked this cute, simple page. I was hoping to use my gelatos to create a sky feel in the background but it didn’t quite come out how I’d hoped! I hope next year to learn more techniques to add to my art.

Update:

This week I’ve been doing a lot of pondering and praying and evaluating of the things in our lives. I will be making some changes to our schedule in January in an effort to slow down, enjoy life, and create a more relaxed and peaceful home. This blog will likely reflect those goals next year as I hope to share what I’m doing and what I find in my pursuit of a simple life and peaceful and joyful home. Make sure you check out my A Life Giving Home discussion series if you are interested in joining in that pursuit and be on the lookout early next month for an announcement about my upcoming book club.

I have posted the last couple weeks about my plans for this Journaling Through The Bible series in 2018 including a Facebook discussion group and a group Pinterest board as well as my scripture writing plans. I hope you will continue joining me for these weekly posts and jump in and participate in any way that works for you! I will have the Facebook group and Pinterest board open by New Years Eve, make sure you have joined my mailing list to be notified and have access to instructions on how to join!

The Reading:

I’m still in the letters. I don’t have much to say about this week’s reading other than that I enjoy the refresher on all of the lessons they contain.

The Journaling:

I love any symbolism with trees so had to choose this picture to color!

Update:

We had a fairly relaxing start to this week and then had a military ball Friday. I’ve been to quite a few balls and this was one of the most well put together balls I’ve experienced. We didn’t stay too long after dinner since we weren’t sure how the baby would do with me gone for so long but when we walked in the door he was laughing and playing. We had several other activities going on this weekend as well so it was pretty busy.

Next Year:

Last week I shared some of the features I plan to add to this study next year. Make sure you check out that post and be sure to subscribe to my newsletter so you will know when the Facebook group and Pinterest board open up and can get access to them. I want to share one other thing I plan to do in conjunction with my Journaling Through The Bible posts next year: Scripture Writing.

I have three notebooks in which I will be writing any scriptures I find pertaining to certain subjects:
1. Women and marriage.
2. Children, parenting, and behavior.
3. Character qualities, characteristics of God, and feelings.

These are topics I am always looking for a better understanding of and I’m hoping to have related scriptures together in one place will shed new light on them! I will post here the scriptures I find each week. If you would like to join me in writing one, two, or all of these topics I would love for you to share what you find each week in the comments of the posts or in our Facebook group. I’m sure I will miss some so would love to have others searching with me as well!

Journaling Through The Bible – Week 48 {Link Up}

I am reading and journaling chronologically through the Bible in 2017. (See below for plans for 2018!) Each Sunday I will post one of my journaling pages and thoughts from that week’s reading. I will also have a linky for anyone who would like to participate to share how their Bible reading and journaling is going!

The Reading:

I’m still reading through the letters from Paul this week with some Acts scattered in. I love that the events in Acts are put where they go chronologically in relation to the letters so you can more easily see the events that are surrounding them. I love this section of the Bible with all of its practical instruction and encouragement for the New Testament church!!

The Journaling:

This was a super simple page. I’ve been preparing for company all week and have company this weekend so simple was good!! I enjoyed it though. I used my gel pens again which are still my favorite for bold color and of course my trusty gold pen which I love!!

Journaling Through the Bible in 2018:

I have loved reading and journaling through my Bible this year and posting about it here has kept me accountable. I’ve also loved reading the posts and seeing the artwork you have shared. So, I’m going to continue this series through 2018. I will again be reading through chronologically and journaling at least one entry per week to share here on the blog on Sundays. I am opening up the link up to any post related to Bible reading or Bible Journaling and you may post multiple posts per week instead of just one if you would like (this could change if the link up gets busier). I also am going to add some additional features and ways to interact:

Facebook group: I will host a Facebook group for those reading the Bible chronologically. You can use a Chronological One Year Bible or a reading plan that tells you what to read each day. For the sake of simplicity, I’m limiting this group to discussion within the chronological reading framework. I will post what I will be reading the following week and you can read along or use whatever reading plan you are using as long as it is a one-year chronological plan. I will post discussion thoughts and questions 2-3 times during the week but others are welcome to post and discuss as they are lead. We can also use the group to share journaling ideas, techniques, and tips so if you aren’t on the same reading plan but would like to participate in the journaling portions that will be included as well.

Pinterest Board: I will create a group Pinterest board specifically for our Bible Journaling posts. Contributors can pin any post related to Bible reading or Bible Journaling on this board.

Scripture Writing: I am doing my own exploratory study next year as I read through the Bible. I will be writing out any verses I find pertaining to women, marriage, parenting, behavior/character traits, and the character of God. (I will be using three different notebooks- more on that later). I will share here and in the Facebook group what verses I found during that week’s reading. More details on this will be coming soon.

I will open the Facebook group and Pinterest Board a week or two before January 1st and both of those will officially kick off on New Years. Instructions for joining will be on my freebies page for newsletter subscribers. You can subscribe to my newsletter (in the sidebar on the right) now for access to that page or wait until later in the month when I announce that they are open.
