I thought it is probably about time I gave y’all an update on my Plexus journey. Well, there isn’t a whole lot to update. I am not drinking it at this point. I was doing very well there for a while. I had more energy, I was able to cut out soda completely with very little side effects, my mood improved and I just generally felt better. I was drinking Plexus Slim once or twice a day and taking BioCleanse and ProBio when I happened to remember (which wasn’t often).
After about a month and a half, I decided to try their protein shake as well. I like it, it mixes well and tastes good. Well, it tastes good mixed with milk but not so much mixed with just water. I wasn’t doing any of this to lose weight. I was doing it for the reported gut health benefits and overall wellness.
After about two months or so of drinking Slim daily, I started having headaches every day. Often, what I would consider full-blown migraines, but every day I had at least enough of a headache to send me to bed early. I was having headaches before this, probably once or twice a week. I am under a lot of stress right now which I think has brought them on. So at first, I didn’t really notice the increase but when they were happening daily I definitely noticed.
I can’t say for sure they were from the Plexus and even if they were, I am told that it is a symptom of detox. Headaches can be a detox and healing side effect so it is possible that is what I was experiencing. I do know they have gone back down to about 2-3 a week since I stopped drinking Plexus. Again, it could be a detox effect I really don’t know.
If the headaches are simply a side effect of healing it is something I will have to work through eventually regardless of the way I go about healing. Right now, I just don’t have space in my life to nurse headaches if I can avoid them. I have decided to just hold off on Plexus for a bit until I have time to research the ingredients in more detail and have the ability to let my body rest and work through any detoxing more effectively.
Perhaps when life is less stressful and I can take more time to rest I will start Plexus again. Or perhaps I will try a different method of healing my gut and restoring my energy. For now, I am holding off but when I work on it again I will surely share that journey here!
The good news is the gains I did see while on Plexus seem to have stuck with me. I still have more energy and have not resumed my soda habit. I’m thrilled that those things didn’t fly out the window as soon as I stopped. To me, this also indicates that if I do resume it at some point it can be a temporary tool to use to get back to optimum health but doesn’t necessarily need to be a permanent part of my life.
I definitely don’t regret trying and have not ruled it out as a tool for health, now just isn’t the right time for me.
