Journaling Through The Bible – Week 42 {Link Up}

I am reading and journaling chronologically through the Bible in 2017. Each Sunday I will post one of my journaling pages and thoughts from that week’s reading. I will also have a linky for anyone who would like to participate to share how their Bible reading and journaling is going!

The Reading:

How is it already October??? Here I am in the middle of the Gospels. Before I know it I’ll be into the letters and Revelation. Wow I can’t believe how fast this year has flown by (although there have definitely been some long days and weeks in there too). One parable I read this week that has never stuck out to me before was the Parable of the Shrews Manager (Luke 16:1-18). I’m still a little confused about what this is supposed to mean. I’ve of course heard the part about not serving two masters but the rest of this story for some reason has never been more than a passing read for me. It seems like the manager is being hailed for his quick thinking and the fact that he made friends to help him out but he was obviously wrong, deceitful, and untrustworthy. I believe this one deserves some more pondering and deeper study!

The Journaling:

This was a fun page to color. I decided to make it very colorful and playful since it is about children. I love Jesus’ heart for children, probably because I also have a heart for children. Kids are so undervalued in our world, often even in Christian circles. I believe we all need to remember that Jesus elevated them above everyone else in this verse. I had planned to try out coloring in the whole page but my own kids decided they needed my attention and I didn’t get back to it!

Be sure to check out last week’s link up as well. I think Peabea’s digital art is one of my favorites and Dani shares some great pages including one I loved where she used a stamp!

Update:

Another busy week down, a slightly less busy week coming up! We went to the Mother Earth News Fair this weekend, that was fun, lots of interesting things to see and people to meet. I don’t expect to post much this week, just one review I’m working on for you but I’m already brainstorming my blog plans for next year. I plan to increase my posting just a tad and add some series and features that I hope will be helpful to you!

This post is linked up to Scripture and a Snapshot at Glimpses of Our Life and Sunday Scripture Blessings at Peabea Scribbles and Inspire Me Monday at Create With Joy.

  1. So in rereading that scripture, it is not really clear, but then the parables sometimes aren’t. When I’m not sure, I go online and look up what some of the biblical scholars might give as an insight. I’ve used Matthew Henry and looked at others. Sometimes they’re confusing too. 🙂

    Awesome that you’re almost through the Bible. It took me longer, but I did finally read Revelations. Had been putting that one off.

    • Yes it is a passage I would definitely like to do more study on at some point! Just surprised it hasn’t stood out to me before!
