Journal Through The Bible – Week 8 {Link Up}

I am reading and journaling chronologically through the Bible in 2017. Each Sunday I will post one of my journaling pages and thoughts from that week’s reading. I will also have a linky for anyone who would like to participate to share how their Bible reading and journaling is going!

The Reading:

Oh Leviticus….this is a hard read. So many rules! One thing I like to keep in mind is that all of these very specific rules and procedures were put into place in order to demonstrate to the Israelites that they CAN’T be holy on their own. They CAN’T fulfill the law perfectly. It is a demonstration that they need a savior. I’m so thankful Jesus fulfilled the law and we are no longer bound by such stringent requirements.

I got behind on reading this week. WAY behind. I’m still playing catch-up a bit. The baby is going through a leap, it was hubby’s first week back at work and it was utter chaos. I’m still getting as much sleep as I can, when I can so I haven’t been getting up early to do quiet time. I’m hoping to be able to get into a good routine and get up before the kids again in the next month. For now, I’m reading when I can.

The Journaling:

There isn’t much that inspires me to do my own art in Leviticus. I went with one of the included coloring pages. I’m really starting to love the coloring designs included in this book! Especially during such a busy season of life. I used my gold gel pen for the scrollwork on the top and bottom because it made me think of metal. I have been wanting to try distressing but have still not bought distressing inks (I AM going to get some this week!) so I tried using my pastels to distress the page a bit, I really like how it turned out!

We had a new linker this week, in addition to my loyal linkers Peabea and Dani (make sure you check out their posts, their thoughts and work are always wonderful!), Traci joined us from Traces of Faith. She posts about a group who read through the Bible together a couple of years ago. Show her some love and check out her blog!

  1. I think your journaling page turned out beautiful! I take away something similar from reading Leviticus, God is holy and we are so not. It always makes me realize our great need for Jesus!

  2. I finished Ezra and am not on Nehemiah. I found after I started that it is best to read these two together. My memory isn’t the greatest on Leviticus since I read it a while back, but agree…some of the books of the Bible don’t lend much to Journaling. I see so many that do a great job picking and choosing words and art to share. Your page looks great.

    Thanks for visiting and linking. 🙂
