I started reading Sally and Sarah Clarkson’s book The Live Giving Home a few weeks ago. It is really inspiring and a little overwhelming. I’m finding so many ideas I want to implement in my own home. I already love and have gained insight and encouragement from many of Sally’s books and this one is just as great!

The book is written so that each chapter corresponds with a specific month – moving through the whole year. The companion guide The Life Giving Home Experience is also organized by month. I decided I would spend 2017 working gradually through both the book and guide month by month and trying out a few ideas from each chapter in my own home.

It occurred to me, maybe some of you would like to join me!

I plan to read each chapter right before or at the beginning of its corresponding month. Then I’ll pick a few of the suggestions from the chapter to try with my own family. The last Saturday of each month I will post my thoughts from the chapter, what I tried, how it went and what I plan to do going forward.

If you would like to participate all you need to do is:

1. Get The Life Giving Home and The Life Giving Home Experience. (Click the images to go to Amazon)

2. Read the chapter before the beginning of the month it is written for or as close to the beginning of that month as possible and work through the chapter in the companion guide.

3. Pick a few suggestions to try with your own family.

4. Join me here on the blog the last Saturday of the month, read my thoughts and share your own thoughts, what you tried, what worked, what didn’t, and what you plan to do in the future.

We will repeat this each month of 2017.

If other bloggers would like to join me and blog about their experiences each month I’d be happy to include a linky on these posts just let me know in the comments if that is something you are interested in.

The first few chapters of the book are an introduction and overview, I will make some posts discussing these chapters between now and the first official discussion post at the end of January. Please try to read these beginning chapters AND the January chapter as soon as you can so that you have time to try out some ideas for January!

    • It is really great, I’m through about 3/4 of it but I’m looking forward to going back through it slowly and implementing some ideas!

    • Awesome! I look forward to having you join me!! I probably will do the linky as I’ve had a few people express interest in blogging it as well!

  1. What a great idea. I enjoy Sally’s writings. I wish I could commit but I know that I am going to be pressed for time next year especially the first three months. I would like to follow your blog though and try implement what I can from your writings.

    • Please feel free to follow along and comment even if you can’t blog! And feel free to blog when you can and linkup even if not every month! I look forward to seeing your ideas!!

  2. I just bought these books and read through them – I’m excited to join you, Sabrina, in the monthly group 🙂 BTW – I was so excited to finally see a picture of you!! You are beautiful 🙂

        • Joyce, I haven’t done January yet, you will just need to read the January chapter in the book and/or study guide. Think about the questions in the study guide and pick one or more of her suggestions to try out this month with your family. I will post my thoughts the last Saturday of January (I’ll probably also include a few thoughts on the first 4 chapters of the book which serve as more of an introduction but the focus will be on the “January” chapter). It will always post on the last Saturday of the month. You can join my email list (I think you already have-the form is in the sidebar) or follow my FB page to see all my new posts including those with this series if you want a reminder :).

  3. Wow! You’ve had quite a year. There are always lessons to learn, aren’t there?
Exciting things happening for you, too. Looking forward to learning more about Sally Clarkson’s book. I have not read this one yet but it looks very good.
    Happy New Year!
